Profile of PL Manufacturing - Working with Construction
If you had to judge the success of a company by the amount of pride it
takes in its work, then PL Manufacturing would be at the top of the London
Stock Exchange.
Unfortunately, reality dictates that balance sheets and gross profit margins
form the relevant yardstick, but that does not deter Steve Pearce and
his team of highly skilled engineers. Established in 1993, the Coseley
based company has established a reputation for quality and service, two
principles that have seen the business forge exciting relationships with
numerous blue chip companies, companies such as AMEC, Murphy, Morgan Est,
Costain, Hepworth, AMCO-Donelon, Hanson and Johnston to name but a few.
"Our expertise in structural and general fabrications to the construction,
tunnelling and water industries has enabled us to attract the biggest
names in the marketplace, not a bad achievement when you think we are
a relatively small company". Smiled Steve. "If you take Morgan
Est for example. In the last five years we have supplied them with a diverse
range of products for use in high profile contracts including; the Black
Country Route in Walsall Hastings and Bexhill Waste Water Treatment Scheme,
a 11 km storm tunnel at Hull and, more recently, the £37m Torbay
Sewage Treatment Plant". PL's involvement in these projects is testament
to its excellence in engineering and ability to meet fast-track contracts
on time. A point Steve was quick to acknowledge: "Trust is a key
driver in our relationship with all of our Clients. They know that we
take
great pride in every job that leaves the factory and, to this extent,
it is taken for granted that we will meet their quality, service and delivery
levels. This confidence forms the basis of our ongoing relationships".
The last twelve months have been difficult for everyone involved in the
industry, with competition increasing at a frightening rate. It has, however,
not prevented PL Manufacturing from enjoying another profitable year and
building on what has so far
been a decade of success. You never know, the company might even add to
its short appearance on BBC2's Home
Front Programme as the supplier of steel framework for a trendy sunhouse!
